What You Water Will Grow
Every day, something in your life is being nourished.
Not just physically.
Spiritually. Emotionally. Mentally.
The question is not whether growth is happening.
The question is what is growing.
Fear grows when it is fed constantly.
Bitterness grows when it is revisited repeatedly.
Worry grows when it is entertained daily.
But faith grows when God’s truth is given room to take root.
By the middle of the week, many people are experiencing the results of whatever has been occupying their attention.
Because attention is a form of nourishment.
What you continually water eventually grows.
Today’s Key Verse
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 KJV
Notice the image God uses.
A tree survives because of what it is connected to.
Its strength is not merely determined by external conditions.
It is determined by its source.
The Invisible Gardens of the Heart
Most growth happens where nobody can see it.
A gardener understands this.
Before fruit appears, roots develop.
Before blossoms emerge, nourishment takes place beneath the surface.
The same is true spiritually.
Long before actions become visible, thoughts have been forming.
Long before attitudes appear outwardly, they have been growing inwardly.
A Verse About the Heart
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 KJV
The heart is like a garden.
Whatever is planted and cultivated there eventually influences everything else.
Three Things Worth Watering
God’s Word
Scripture nourishes faith.
Not because reading a verse magically removes problems.
But because it changes perspective.
God’s truth becomes stronger than fear’s predictions.
Prayer
Prayer keeps the heart connected to God.
It reminds you that you are not carrying life alone.
Gratitude
Gratitude protects the soul from becoming consumed by what is missing.
It helps you recognize what God is already doing.
Three Things That Drain Spiritual Health
Just as some things nourish growth, other things weaken it.
Constant Comparison
Comparison shifts focus away from God’s work in your life.
Unchecked Negativity
A negative thought repeated often enough begins to feel like truth.
Spiritual Neglect
Just as a plant struggles without water, faith struggles without nourishment.
Midweek Checkup
Wednesday is a useful day for self examination.
Not to criticize yourself.
Not to dwell on failures.
But to honestly assess what has been shaping your inner life.
Ask yourself:
What has occupied most of my thoughts this week?
What emotions have I been feeding?
What truths have I been neglecting?
Where have I been drawing strength from?
These questions reveal a great deal.
The Environment Matters
A seed’s growth is influenced by its environment.
The same applies to people.
Conversations matter.
Media consumption matters.
Friendships matter.
Habits matter.
What surrounds you often influences what develops within you.
Supporting Scripture
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”
1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV
The people and influences around you are shaping something.
Choose them wisely.
God Specializes in Cultivating Growth
One encouraging truth is that God is patient with the process.
A gardener does not become frustrated because fruit is not visible immediately after planting.
Growth takes time.
God understands this better than anyone.
A Verse About God’s Work
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6 KJV
If God has started a work in your life, He is not abandoning it halfway through.
One Small Action for Today
Choose one thing that strengthens your relationship with God.
Perhaps it is spending ten extra minutes in prayer.
Perhaps it is reading a chapter of Scripture.
Perhaps it is expressing gratitude intentionally.
Small actions repeated consistently often create significant growth over time.
Prayer for Wednesday, June 3, 2026
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for caring about the condition of my heart. Help me recognize the things that are shaping my thoughts, attitudes, and spiritual life.
Teach me to nourish faith instead of fear, gratitude instead of complaint, and trust instead of anxiety. Guard my heart from influences that pull me away from You.
Help me remain rooted in Your Word and connected to Your presence. Continue the good work You have begun in me, even in areas where growth feels slow or invisible.
Let my life produce fruit that honors You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Reflection
Every day, something is growing.
Every thought entertained repeatedly becomes stronger.
Every habit practiced consistently becomes deeper.
Every truth embraced more fully begins shaping the heart.
So today, pay attention to what you are watering.
Because what grows within you will eventually influence everything around you.
