Waiting seasons test faith because they require trusting God when nothing visible confirms He’s working. Scripture consistently shows that God’s people waited, often for years or decades, before seeing promises fulfilled. But their waiting wasn’t passive resignation. It was active faith that continued believing, kept obeying, and refused to give up even when circumstances screamed that nothing was happening. The waiting itself served purposes: developing character, deepening dependence on God, and preparing them for what was coming.
What strikes me most about biblical waiting is the promise that it’s never in vain. Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, will not be disappointed, will receive what was promised. The delay doesn’t mean denial. God’s timing is always perfect, even when it doesn’t match our urgency.
