What’s encouraging is that every passage about spiritual opposition is coupled with assurance of victory through Christ and practical weapons for winning the battle.
What strikes me most about the biblical approach to spiritual opposition is the balance between taking the enemy seriously while not giving him more credit than he deserves. The Bible acknowledges Satan’s power and cunning but consistently emphasizes that Christ has already defeated him at the cross. We’re not fighting for victory but from victory, which changes everything about how we approach spiritual warfare.
The Bible also shows that spiritual opposition often intensifies when we’re moving in the right direction spiritually. The enemy doesn’t waste ammunition on believers who aren’t threatening his kingdom, but he actively opposes those who are advancing God’s purposes.
