Faith isn’t believing hard enough until something magical happens. It’s trusting God’s character when your circumstances are screaming that He’s forgotten you. It’s choosing to stand on His promises when the ground beneath your feet feels like it’s crumbling.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German pastor who was executed by the Nazis for his resistance, wrote from prison:
“Faith is only real when there is obedience, never without it, and faith only becomes faith in the act of obedience.”
He understood something crucial: faith isn’t just intellectual agreement with doctrine. It’s active trust that produces tangible strength when everything in you wants to collapse.
We often think faith is something we either have or don’t have, like a spiritual on/off switch. But Scripture shows faith as something that grows, develops, and strengthens over time. It starts small like a mustard seed. It gets tested by trials. It deepens through seasons when God seems silent.
The strength you need doesn’t come from trying harder to believe. It comes from knowing the One you believe in. Your faith doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be placed in a perfect God.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About Strength In Faith
Faith isn’t something you work up through sheer willpower. It’s something that grows as you encounter God’s faithfulness over and over.
Every time God shows up in your life, your faith strengthens. Every answered prayer, every provision, every moment of supernatural peace in the storm adds another layer to your trust. This is why trials actually deepen faith rather than destroy it, if you let them.
Weak faith in a strong God accomplishes more than strong faith in a weak god. Your faith doesn’t have to be impressive. It just has to be placed in the right Person.
The disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith, and His response was surprising. He didn’t give them a formula for building stronger faith. He pointed them to a mustard seed, the tiniest seed imaginable, and said even faith that small can move mountains.
It’s not about the quantity of your faith. It’s about the quality of the One you’re trusting. Small faith in a big God changes everything.
Say This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want stronger faith, but I don’t know how to get it.
I’m tired of doubting. I’m exhausted from wavering. I want to trust You completely, but my circumstances keep shaking me. My faith feels small and fragile, like the slightest wind could blow it away.
But Your Word says that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. It says the righteous will live by faith. It says faith comes by hearing Your Word and grows through trials.
So strengthen my faith. Not through easier circumstances, but through a deeper revelation of who You are. Help me to know You better so I can trust You more. Let every challenge become an opportunity for my faith to grow.
When I’m tempted to walk by sight instead of faith, redirect my eyes to what’s unseen and eternal. When doubt creeps in, remind me of Your faithfulness in the past. When fear threatens to overwhelm me, anchor me to Your promises.
I don’t need perfect faith. I just need faith in a perfect God. You are enough. Let my trust in You become the strength I need to keep going.
In Jesus’ Powerful Name, Amen.
