You’ve hit the wall where your own strength runs out. Maybe it’s physical exhaustion from fighting an illness or pushing through relentless demands. Maybe it’s emotional depletion from carrying burdens that never let up or grief that won’t release its grip. Maybe it’s spiritual weariness from battling temptations that keep winning, or trying to maintain faith when God feels absent. Whatever form it takes, you’re operating on empty, and there’s nothing left in the tank to draw from.
The problem with running out of strength is that life doesn’t pause to let you recover. Responsibilities still need handling, people still need you, problems still demand solutions, and you’re expected to keep functioning when you can barely get out of bed. Telling yourself to be strong feels like a cruel joke when you’re this depleted. You’ve tried pushing through, tried resting when you can, tried every trick you know to recharge, and none of it is enough.
These verses point to a source of strength outside yourself, to God’s power that operates precisely when yours fails, and to supernatural sustaining that carries you when you can’t carry yourself.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About Strength
Scripture consistently presents strength not as something you generate through willpower or positive thinking but as something God provides, especially when yours runs out. The repeated theme is that His strength is made perfect in weakness, that when you’re depleted, you’re actually positioned to experience His power in ways you never could when you were relying on your own resources. This turns weakness from a problem into an opportunity to encounter God’s sustaining power.
What’s liberating about the biblical view of strength is that it removes the burden of having to be strong enough in yourself. You can admit you’re weak, exhausted, and at the end of your rope because that’s precisely where God’s strength takes over. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. He gives power to the weak and increases the strength of those who have no might. The joy of the Lord is your strength, not the joy you manufacture but the joy that comes from Him.
This means strength for the Christian isn’t about gritting your teeth and pushing through in your own power but about abiding in Christ, drawing from His resources, and allowing His power to work through your weakness. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, not through your own determination.
Say This Prayer
Father, I’m completely depleted and have nothing left to give. I’ve run out of strength physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and I need You to be my strength because I have none of my own. Help me to stop trying to power through in my own abilities and to instead depend on Your strength that is made perfect in my weakness.
Renew my strength as I wait on You. Give me the endurance to keep going when everything in me wants to give up. Help me to trust that You will sustain me, that You won’t let me be overwhelmed beyond what I can bear, and that Your grace is sufficient for whatever I’m facing. Let Your power rest on me and work through me in ways that are impossible through my own effort.
Teach me to draw my strength from You rather than from circumstances, cooperating or resolving problems. Be my refuge, my fortress, my rock, and my strong tower. When I’m weak, remind me that then I am strong because Your power operates best in my weakness. Fill me with Your Spirit and give me supernatural strength for each day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
