The Bible is filled with comeback stories of people who experienced devastating setbacks only to discover that God had been preparing them for purposes they couldn’t have imagined in their success.
What strikes me most about biblical accounts of failure and restoration is how God often uses the very areas where we’ve failed to become the foundation of our greatest ministry and impact. Moses’s forty years of failure in Egypt prepared him to lead Israel out of bondage. David’s moral failures deepened his understanding of grace and forgiveness that would characterize his psalms. Peter’s denial of Christ became the catalyst for a bold evangelistic ministry.
