35 Bible Verses About God’s Love For Us

We throw the word “love” around carelessly. We love pizza, love our favorite show, and love our friends. The word has been diluted to the point where it’s lost most of its meaning. Even when we talk about God’s love, we often reduce it to a vague feeling of divine affection or cosmic benevolence that doesn’t cost anything or demand anything.

But God’s love isn’t sentimental or superficial. It’s fierce, sacrificial, and completely unearned. It’s the kind of love that sent Jesus to the cross while we were still sinners, enemies of God. It’s relentless love that pursues us when we run, forgives us when we fail, and never gives up on us even when we give up on ourselves. God’s love isn’t based on our performance, our goodness, or whether we deserve it. It flows from His character, not our worthiness.

These verses reveal the depth, width, and height of God’s love for us. They show us that we’re not just tolerated or vaguely liked by a distant deity. We’re passionately loved by a Father who gave everything to bring us home.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About God’s Love For Us

God’s love for us is the foundation of everything. It’s not based on what we do but on who He is. He loved us while we were still sinners, enemies actively rebelling against Him. That’s staggering when you think about it. He didn’t wait until we cleaned ourselves up or proved we were worth loving. He loved us at our worst and gave everything to redeem us.

The height, depth, width, and length of God’s love surpass knowledge. You can study it your entire life and never fully grasp it. Nothing can separate you from His love. Not your worst failure, not your darkest sin, not your deepest doubt. His love is everlasting, unfailing, and completely secure. You can’t earn it, you can’t lose it, and you definitely don’t deserve it. But it’s yours in Christ.

God doesn’t just love humanity in some vague, general sense. He loves you specifically, personally, intimately. He knows everything about you and still chooses to love you. He rejoices over you with singing. You are precious and honored in His sight. Let that truth sink deep into your soul.

Say This Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. I don’t deserve it, I can’t earn it, but I desperately need it. Help me to truly grasp how wide and long and high and deep Your love is for me.

Forgive me for the times I’ve doubted Your love, questioned whether You truly care, or believed the lie that I’m too far gone for You to want me. Remind me that You loved me while I was still a sinner, that nothing can separate me from Your love, and that Your love isn’t based on my performance.

Help me to rest in Your love instead of constantly trying to earn it. Let Your love be the foundation of my identity, my security, and my confidence. When I fail, remind me that Your love doesn’t change. When I succeed, remind me that Your love wasn’t any less before.

Thank You for demonstrating Your love by sending Jesus to die for me. Help me to live in response to that incredible love, not to earn it but to reflect it.

In Jesus’ loving Name, Amen.
