Everything feels broken. The relationship that used to bring joy now brings pain. The dream that motivated you for years has died. The body that used to work properly is failing. The mind that used to be sharp is foggy. The faith that used to feel vibrant has grown stale. You look at your life and see wreckage: wasted years, damaged relationships, missed opportunities, consequences of bad choices you can’t undo. The brokenness feels permanent, and you wonder if anything can ever truly be restored or if you’re just stuck managing the ruins.
But God specializes in making things new. Not repairing what’s broken but creating something entirely fresh. He doesn’t just fix damaged goods; He makes new creations where the old has completely passed away. Throughout Scripture, God takes what looks irredeemable and transforms it into something beautiful. Barren wombs become fruitful. Deserts become gardens. Mourning becomes dancing. Death becomes resurrection. The God who spoke creation into existence can speak new life into whatever feels dead in your world.
These verses reveal that God’s ability to make things new isn’t limited by how broken they currently are, how long they’ve been that way, or what caused the brokenness in the first place. His specialty is resurrection and renewal.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About God Making All Things New
God’s promise to make all things new has both present and future fulfillment. Right now, if you’re in Christ, you’re already a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come. But you still live in a fallen world with a body that ages and circumstances that break. The complete fulfillment waits for new heavens and a new earth where there’s no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. Until then, you experience partial renewal with the promise of complete restoration coming.
The pattern throughout Scripture is that God makes new things from dead things. Barren Sarah becomes the mother of nations. Dry bones become a living army. A crucified Savior becomes resurrected Lord. God doesn’t just repair what’s broken; He brings life from death, beauty from ashes, joy from mourning. What looks irredeemable to you is prime material for God’s specialty. The more hopeless it appears, the more glory He gets when He makes it new.
Making things new is God’s active work, not just a future promise. He’s doing a new thing right now, making ways in wilderness places and streams in wastelands. His mercies are new every morning, which means fresh grace is available daily for whatever you’re facing. You’re being renewed day by day, even when outwardly you’re wasting away. God isn’t waiting until heaven to start making things new; He’s doing it now in ways you may not yet perceive.
Say This Prayer
Heavenly Father, everything in my life feels broken and beyond repair. I look at the wreckage and can’t imagine how anything new could come from this. But You specialize in making things new, in bringing life from death, in creating beauty from ashes. I desperately need You to do that miracle-working power in my life.
Make me a new creation where the old has passed away and the new has come. Give me a new heart and a new spirit. Remove my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh. Create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do a new thing in my circumstances. Make ways in the wilderness places of my life and streams in the wasteland. Restore what the locusts have eaten. Replace mourning with dancing, ashes with beauty, and despair with praise. Put a new song in my mouth.
Renew me daily by Your Spirit. Transform me by the renewing of my mind. Help me to perceive the new thing You’re doing, even when I can’t see the full picture yet. Give me faith to believe that You who make all things new can make something beautiful from my broken pieces.
In Jesus’ renewing Name, Amen.
