35 Bible Verses About Healing

Healing feels urgent when you’re the one in pain. The diagnosis is real, the symptoms are debilitating, and the future looks uncertain. You’ve prayed for healing countless times, watched others receive miracles while you’re still waiting, and wondered why God heals some but not others. The tension between believing God can heal and accepting He might not heal in the way or timing you hope for is agonizing. Faith feels complicated when you’re holding medical reports in one hand and Bible promises in the other.

Scripture reveals a God who heals bodies, minds, emotions, and souls. Throughout the Bible, Jesus healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, made the lame walk, and even raised the dead. His healing power hasn’t diminished. But the Bible also shows faithful people who weren’t healed on this side of heaven, reminding us that God’s purposes are sometimes bigger than our immediate relief. Healing comes in different forms and timings: sometimes instant, sometimes gradual, sometimes not until eternity. What remains constant is God’s compassion, His power, and His promise to walk with us through every valley.

These verses offer comfort for those seeking healing, pointing to the God who heals and sustains, whether the answer is now or not yet.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About Healing

Scripture presents God as the ultimate healer who cares about every aspect of our wellbeing: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus demonstrated compassion for the sick and power to heal, showing that healing is consistent with God’s character and desires. Yet the Bible also includes examples of faithful people who weren’t healed immediately, like Paul’s thorn in the flesh or Timothy’s stomach ailments. This tension reminds us that God’s purposes are complex and His timeline doesn’t always match our urgency.

What strikes me most about biblical healing is that it’s always connected to a relationship with God, not merely physical restoration. Jesus often linked healing with faith, forgiveness, and wholeness that goes beyond the body. Sometimes physical healing happens instantly, sometimes gradually through medical means, and sometimes not until resurrection. But spiritual and emotional healing are always available now through Christ’s finished work on the cross.

The most comforting truth about healing is that ultimate healing is guaranteed for believers. Revelation promises a day when there will be no more pain, sickness, or death. Whether healing comes now or later, God walks with us through suffering, uses trials to shape us, and promises that our present afflictions are temporary compared to the eternal glory awaiting us.

Say This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to You desperately needing healing. This pain, this diagnosis, this condition feels overwhelming, and I need Your touch. You are the Great Physician who healed the sick throughout the Gospels, and I believe You still heal today. I ask for Your healing power to work in my body, mind, and spirit.

I confess my faith in Your ability to heal, while also submitting to Your wisdom and timing. Whether healing comes instantly, gradually, or not until heaven, help me to trust Your goodness and Your purposes. Give me the strength to endure what I’m facing and peace that transcends my circumstances.

Use even this trial to draw me closer to You, to deepen my faith, and to shape my character. Help me to remember that You walked through suffering Yourself and that You’re present with me in mine. Whether You choose to heal or to sustain me through this, help me to glorify You and trust that Your grace is sufficient.

Thank You that by Your wounds we are healed, that ultimate healing is guaranteed, and that You care about every detail of my struggle. I place myself in Your capable hands.

In Jesus’ healing Name, Amen.
