The inappropriate comment during the meeting made your stomach turn, but you stayed silent because you needed this job. The unwanted touching disguised as friendly gestures has escalated, and you dread coming to work. Maybe it’s the suggestive jokes that everyone else laughs at while you feel invisible and violated, or the superior who’s made it clear that your career advancement depends on compromising your integrity. You feel trapped between speaking up and risking retaliation or staying silent and enduring ongoing degradation.
Workplace sexual harassment isn’t just unprofessional behavior; it’s a violation of human dignity that leaves deep wounds. You might question whether you’re overreacting, blame yourself for not setting clearer boundaries, or wonder if God sees what’s happening in those conference rooms and office corners. The shame, fear, and powerlessness can feel overwhelming, especially when the harassment comes from someone in authority or when reporting might jeopardize your livelihood.
God sees every inappropriate word, every unwelcome advance, and every abuse of power. He grieves over the ways His image-bearers are dehumanized and exploited. These verses offer strength for the vulnerable, justice for the oppressed, and hope for those who feel powerless. They remind us that our worth isn’t determined by how others treat us and that God stands with those who suffer injustice.

Our Thoughts On What the Bible Says About Workplace Sexual Harassment
Scripture is unambiguous about the inherent dignity and worth of every person, regardless of gender, position, or power dynamics. Sexual harassment fundamentally violates the biblical principle that all people are created in God’s image and deserve respect and honor. The Bible consistently condemns the abuse of power and the exploitation of the vulnerable, calling such behavior an abomination to God.
What strikes me most about Scripture’s approach to injustice is how it validates the experiences of victims while also calling for action. The Bible doesn’t minimize suffering or suggest that enduring abuse quietly is virtuous. Instead, it calls believers to speak up for the voiceless, defend the oppressed, and pursue justice. God sees every violation of dignity and promises that justice will ultimately prevail.
Scripture also provides resources for healing and restoration after trauma. While it doesn’t promise immediate resolution or easy answers, it offers the hope of divine comfort, community support, and ultimate vindication. The goal isn’t just survival but restoration to wholeness and the ability to help others who face similar struggles. God can redeem even our deepest wounds for His purposes.
Say This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to You carrying the weight of violation and injustice. The harassment I’ve endured has left me feeling powerless, ashamed, and unsure of my own worth. Some days I question whether I’m overreacting or if this is just something I have to endure to keep my job and provide for my family.
Remind me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image, and that no one has the right to treat me as less than the precious person You created me to be. Give me wisdom to know when to speak up, when to document incidents, and when to seek help from authorities or advocates who can protect me.
Grant me the courage to report harassment even when I fear retaliation. Help me find trustworthy people who will believe my story and support me through this difficult process. Protect my job, my reputation, and my family during this challenging time.
Heal the wounds this experience has created in my heart and mind. Help me not to internalize the shame that belongs to my harasser. Give me the strength to set appropriate boundaries and the discernment to recognize unsafe situations.
Use my experience to help others who face similar struggles. Bring justice in Your timing and in Your way, and help me trust that You see everything and will make all things right.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
